SDTC: What spaces in Toronto do you find inspiring?

Mikky: West Queen West for the people, the vibes and all the missed connections. It almost makes me want to check craigslist, almost…

Alex: Chinatown because of the food, interesting fashion finds and the culture. I also love the Toronto islands in the summer because I can swim, hang out on the beach and go skateboarding; it’s such a peaceful escape from the concrete jungle.

What aisle do you spend the most time in at the grocery store?

Produce, because we love to cook! We also spend a long time in the tea and coffee section figuring out what kind of tea to buy.

Which virtue do you try to cultivate within yourself?

Kindness.

The receipts in your wallet would indicate what?

That we love vintage shopping, grocery shopping and Dollarama.

If you could reinvent your career and be something totally different, what would that be?

Mikky:  If I couldn’t be a musician, I would be a writer for SNL or a novelist/screenwriter.

Alex:  I would be a fashion designer and have my own store or I would open up a café/restaurant so I could get free coffee and food.

When you dream about travel, what place in the world comes to mind?

Mikky: Costa Rica, I could surf, swim and eat tropical fruit all day long!

Alex: Barcelona, I think it’s the most beautiful city in the world. The people, the culture, the weather and sea makes me dream about it on cold Canadian winter days. I went to Europe a couple summers ago and after visiting Paris, Monaco, Nice and a few other cities, nothing could out do the vibe there is in Barcelona.

What makes you happy?

Music, Family, having a perma-bff, our cat Phoenix, and a good night out.

What makes you cringe?

Scary movies, also anything gross, we’re pretty squeamish.

What quality do you loathe most in others?

Lying, and people who aren’t conscious of others

What, in your opinion, is overrated?

Contour, I still don’t understand its purpose.

How do you feel about life at this moment?

Optimistic. We just moved back to Toronto after living in Ottawa for the past two years so we’re pretty excited about being back in the music scene here.

What quality do you value most in a lover?

Mikky: Someone kind-hearted, funny and fun.

Alex: Honesty.

What is your favourite thing to do on a Saturday?

Mikky: Getting takeout linner (Lunch-Dinner). Who am I kidding, I can’t wake up for brunch.

Alex: I like to sleep in, then go shopping on queen west and hit up all my favourite vintage stores. At night I like to go out for dinner then head to a local bar for drinks.

What is your comfort food?

We’re both obsessed with the nachos at “Utopia” and bao and dim sum at “Mean Bao”.

What word or phrase should we all use more?

Thank you.
