1. The book you couldn’t put down is now a must-see film

We didn’t think it could be done, but Room is as gripping as Emma Donoghue’s international bestseller. A total page-turner, we weren’t sure her brilliant imagination could be captured on film, but director Lenny Abrahamson has taken Donoghue’s phenomenal writing and given it a new dimension. A deep dive into both is a total trip, emotionally and intellectually.

  1. Brie Larson

We first met Brie in 2009 in Diablo Cody’s United States of Tara where she played Kate, Toni Collette’s rebellious daughter. She’s a versatile and phenomenal actress who is poised for an Oscar nomination as the role of Ma in Room. We were fans before, but now we’re actively rooting for this about-to-be-mega-famous talent.

  1. Jacob Tremblay

The last time we were this wowed by a child actor was when Haley Joel Osment spooked us in M. Night Shyamalan‘s The Sixth Sense! Jacob will blow you away and swell your heart as five-year-old Jack in Room. If we had it our way, he’d be the youngest child star to ever be nominated for an Academy Award. Seriously, this little guy will floor you.

  1. It won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF

There are 397 films that screened at TIFF 2015 and after each film, audiences were asked to submit a vote for People’s Choice Award. Of the 473,000 who attended TIFF this year, audiences decided that Room was THE BEST FILM. So if you don’t believe us, maybe this fact will get you to the theatre?

  1. Powerful, gut wrenching and beautiful: Room has allll the feeeeelings!

You’ll cry, you’ll rage, but more than anything, you’ll quietly smile because Room reminds us how magical children are, and how the love between a mother and child can surmount the most harrowing of situations. It’s a love so powerful that it can bring light to the confines of a prison. In this case, it’s love that enables a mother and son to create a beautiful world that transcends the decaying walls of a locked room. This film reminds us that in love we find strength to survive.

  1. Audiences aren’t the only ones who love; film critics are also raving about Room!

“Two of the best hours of the year.” Globe and Mail

“An unforgettable film that must be seen.” The New York Observer

“A beautiful movie ode to the bond between mother and child.” Vanity Fair

  1. It was shot in Toronto

Guys, it’s fun to play I SPY! We promise that you’ll never see the DVP the same way.
