Directed by Lone Scherfig

Written by Nick Hornby, this film tells the tale of precocious and beautiful Jenny (Carey Mulligan), a 16 year old growing up in 1962 London, dreaming of escaping her traditional parents for the world of Oxford. A rabid francophile, Jenny meets her match when a handsome and cultured gentleman, David, (Peter Sarsgaard) gives her a ride home. The two become close, and Jenny is swept up in the world of auctions, parties, concerts, and fine dining. But when Jenny must decide between the traditional path her teachers hope for her, and the glamorous world David has to offer, truths are exposed that bring her whole world toppling down. This film is beautifully and delicately made-with some truly eloquent moments. This film captures the best thing about being 17-making beautiful mistakes.
