With a heavy heart, I must announce a departure: Toratatsu on Denman will be closing its doors. The recent devastating earthquake(s) in Japan have effected the large Japanese community we have here, and the aftershocks haven’t stopped. Local favourite Toratasu, a small and intimate Japanese restaurant, is closing its doors to focus on restoring their locations in Japan.
Over the last three and a half years, Toratatsu has amassed many devout fans (I consider myself a band wagon-er, I got introduced to them two summers ago), namely because of the great service, delicious drinks, and my personal favourite, a $3 creme brulee.
On April 30th, they are inviting everyone down on their final day to toast their time in Vancouver. Come by, no reservations required, and party until 3 in the morning. The Japanese have a proverb that goes, “We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.” And drink.
