Ever wanted to try your hand at beading?

On October 14th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Textile Museum of Canada (55 Centre Ave), you’ll have an opportunity to do just that and raise money for Walking With Our Sisters (WWOS), a commemorative art installation that honours the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people.

The installation consists of more than 1,900 beaded moccasin vamps made by community members across the country, representing the unfinished lives of the 1,181+ missing and murdered indigenous women. The commemorative installation draws attention to the crisis and provides an opportunity to collectively honour and grieve the lives and loss of these people. The WWOS Toronto memorial will be at the Aboriginal Education Centre (16 Phin Avenue, Toronto ON) from October 15th to 29th, 2017.

The workshop on October 14th will be hosted by Jessica Olson and Sarah MacLean who will guide you in making a five-petal Metis rose design honouring women, girls, and two-spirit people.
