This is the dawning of the age of the Internet – and all the amazing gift possibilities that exist within it. If all that comes to mind when you think of Arts and Crafts are things made with dried flowers and macrame-Kleenex-boxes-something-to-do-with-tea, you have not seen these Etsy’s, my friend. Not only can you buy and ship an endless selection of unique, beautiful and handmade gifts from all over the world without leaving your living room – or better yet, bed – you can get some seriously bad ass stuff that I don’t think the good ol’ neighbourhood mall could beat. And don’t forget to treat yourself too with a little sumthin’ sumthin’. Be your own Oprah and get yourself your very own favourite thing. You deserve it!

1. Handmade jewelry made by the entire family-Mrd74 from Brentwood Bay, British Columbia is a family affair. This is the father’s account, and he links to his son’s and daughter’s as well, who work with him in the studio. Reasonably priced skull, bone and animal designs that won’t break the bank, like this darling Antique Bronze hippo ring for $30.

2. Meet your new best friend: Junkprints from Brooklyn, New York. Real name Chanel, fashion sense is bold, cheeky, bright and bananas. She’s literally gone from finding her sewing machine in the garbage to being featured in The New York Times. Scrolling through her Etsy, I can’t help but think how good these l leggings would look with heels and a denim jacket at my next craft party, or how much my bff would love this necklace.

3. I wasn’t going to include this originally, but the entomology-like designs keep me coming back again and again, if only for a wide-eyed scroll every once in awhile. Ruffeo Hearts Lil’ Snotty sells graphic bug-like (maybe I’m the only one who thinks so) body-hugging clothing that ranges from the wearable to the maybe on Halloween… Kelis is a fan and they use lots of profanity in their item descriptions. Thumbs up from me!

4. Skip the trip to Tel Aviv, Israel and buy Tattoo Socks off Etsy instead. Brilliant idea and beautiful execution, and with a shocking 270 different styles you’re sure to find just the perfect pair. Take a break from plain black or nude tights and invite butterflies to fly up your legs, or a peacock feather to peek out of your boots. And they have the perfect snowflake pair for winter, too! Before the snow falls, wear it on your gams.

5. Beat Black from Toronto uses our favourite childhood playtime material, Fimo, and creates macabre heart-shaped brain necklaces, eyeball rings and coffin earrings. Stand out with these locally and hand made unexpected accessories and support Toronto artists!

6. Cyclists, don’t stop, k? Toronto needs you now more then ever – despite what our new bike-bashing mayor may think. If you are a lover of all things with 2 wheels, bring it into your house with this bicycle-inspired Gears and Cogs Three Colour Set Vinyl Wall Art Stickers by Decalfarm from Portland, Oregon. Ads a quirky industrial feel to any bedroom or home office. Bonus: Perfect gift for a cycle shop! For a more whimsical outdoorsy feel, check out BicycleWall Art Home Decor Mural WowWall from Arizona.

7. Attention any and every fan of fringe: I have found an Etsy for you! Girl on a Vine from Los Angeles makes unbelievably delicate fringe pieces, like this aquamarine velvet cardigan
with bell sleeves, a plunging neckline, crochet and a subtle geometric pattern. All the fringe you want without the heaviness of leather. Mexican colour schemes, ponchos and long flowing dresses as well. I’m sure glad the grapevine helped me find this Girl on a Vine…

8. Funky bottle cap jewelry by Kotik Designs. Starts at Rings for around a thrifty $20 and necklaces for around $200-400 for that unforgettable gift. Browse through chunky bangle-type bracelets, cuff links and earrings, brooches and sculptural flowers available as well. That would certainly spruce up an old vase like nobodies business! The bottle caps are manipulated to create amazing shapes and textures, and mimic shapes found in nature and architecture.

9. Pascal Vintage is quite aware of an unstoppable weakness most females have to beautiful vintage shoes, boots and bags of all shapes and sizes. Mostly all items are leather and earth-toned, and appear to be in excellent condition. Scope out designer items from Coach, Dooney and Bourke and Etienne Aigner as well. I can’t stop drooling over this vintage Coach black leather messenger bag with two different tones of leather, and gold accents.

10. For only $15 plus shipping and handling you can pull your dental floss out of a dog’s behind! Isn’t the Internet just great? Of course it’s not a real dog, let me just make that clear before you have to ask. Fanimals from Portland, Oregon have even put together a perfect Dog Butt Floss Bundle Stocking Stuffer for you.
