If you haven’t attended an event at Berkeley Church, you’ve likely passed by while one was in flux and thought, “Well, that place looks damn cool.” This week, you’ll have a chance to tour the historic venue and mingle with some like-minded (and lit-minded) brains at Get Lit 2018. This sophisticated event returns to Toronto on Wednesday, April 25 and promises an evening chock-full of successful and inspiring Canadians of all professions.

If you’re not familiar with the series, Get Lit invites a roster of notable speakers to grace their podium and share passages from literary works that have impacted their lives. Why? For a good cause, of course. To date, their lineup has included architects, opera singers, musicians, doctors, artists and chefs–making this event as much about the networking as it is about the literature.

This year’s lineup includes novelist and screenwriter John Irving; rocket scientist and advocate for women in technology Natalie Panek; Toronto-based artist Elicser Elliott; filmmaker and founder of the Gladstone Hotel’s Come Up To My Room Christina Zeidler; Canadian rapper and producer Kardinal Offishall; and Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, Alvin Fiddler.

All funds raised go directly to First Book Canada. First Book’s mission is to provide new books and equal access to quality education to children in need.
