Ghost Quartet, the latest offering from the never-boring Crow’s Theatre, is the perfect haunted musical leading up to Halloween.

Dubbed as a “surreal chamber musical”, Ghost Quartet is a warped fairy tale about two sisters, a treehouse astronomer and a lazy evil bear; a retelling of Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher; a purgatorial intermezzo about Scheherazade; and a contemporary fable about a subway murder! Wait, what?

Starring Sunparlour Players’ Andrew Penner, Hailey Gillis (Soulpepper’s Rose), Kira Guloien and Beau Dixon, the play explores varied musical styles ranging from the Japanese Noh drama Matsukaze to 19th-century broadsheet murder ballads. It’s weird, spooky and a helluva lot of fun!

Ghost Quartet runs October 5 – November 3 at Streetcar Crowsnest (345 Carlaw Avenue) in the Scotiabank Community Studio. Grab tix here.
