On January 25, MTV beauties Aliya-Jasmine Sovani and Nicole Holness will be hosting Haiti, J’Taime, a benefit show at Revival Bar (783 College Street) in Toronto, with all proceeds going to Plan Canada’swork in Haiti.

In times of humanitarian crisis, a little fun at a big benefit goes a long way. Especially when it’s organized by Toronto’s finest with DJ sets by K-os, Eon of Bedouin Soundclash and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene.  Special guests include Toronto TV personalities Matte Babel of CP24 and the ever-stunning Sarah Taylor of MuchMusic.

Also! Those who love to shop while they dance can do this guilt-free at the silent auction, where over 50 items such as concert tickets, shoes signed by the Raptors, dinner gift cards and jewelry, will be on sale with full proceeds going to aiding the devastated Port-au-Prince.

The tragedy in the poverty-stricken capital Port-au-Prince, Haiti has left 70,000 dead and thousands more injured after the earthquake on January 13, measuring 7.0 on the Richter Scale. Analysts have estimated that 250,000 have been injured and 1.5 million are now homeless.

And to be perfectly frank, joining a facebook group may be morally redeeming, but makes next to no tangible difference to those actually affected by a natural disaster. *

Doors 8 pm, $10 minimum donation. Auction closes at 11:30 pm. See you there!

*same applies to the bra colour facebook status. Sorry.
