If you want to be in Hawaii right now–and funds don’t allow–get into the Aloha spirit by heading up to the 2nd Annual AlohaFest Toronto. This Saturday from 11AM-7PM, Mel Lastman Square will be transformed into a showcase of Polynesian culture, art and dance.

AlohaFest is presented by the Toronto-based Hālau Hula I Ka Lā (“Hula School in the Sun”), whose mission is to promote and educate through the Hawaiian art of Hula with performances, workshops and cultural engagement.

“We believe that the goodness in each person can be expressed through Hula and that our representation of Hula demonstrates our respect for the Hawaiian culture, Her people and a love for all people. With our ‘ohana (family) at Hālau Hula I Ka Lā, we strive to live the values and principles of Aloha, sharing the warmth and beauty of Hawaiian culture with the grace of a hula dancer.”

Torontoʻs original and only united celebration of Polynesian culture is free to attend and open to all. And if you’re interested in learning hula dance, visit here.
