Discovery of the week:
Mummies Groups/Mom gatherings/Playdates/Coffee with new Moms/Early Years meetings– whatever you want to call them —these are absolutely essential to your existence as a MILF. I attended one this week and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. The key is to attend cool mommies meetings. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but trust me it’s not. There are some mom’s groups that have wholeheartedly embraced the word ‘mom’–these women already have their dos on. They have forgotten what their once sexy and fantastical selves used to be like. They use words like, "gymboree", "family van", "stretchy pants" and "time management". They are the anti-MILFS. They are lost to us forever. The cool mommies groups are usually organized privately by one or two rad moms that want to hang out with other rad moms. Did I just use the word ‘rad’ ?! Twice?! Back to being cool. In the group I attend we have filmmakers, photographers, graphic designers, lawyers and lesbians. We have the prefect urban mix of kick ass mamas. Every time I go I’m reminded to never lose myself and not fall into the "Oh well I became a mother…and did nothing else" trap. These women are dynamos. Prosecco in hand we meet once a month and talk about whose crawling, whose doing what and whose doing who. It’s the stylish potluck, a mature sorority gathering, it’s a meeting of the MILFS. We’re practically as cool as Australian surfing mums. Without the beach and the surfing of course.
