Jennifer Westfeldt's Friends with Kids, starring Jon Hamm and Kristen Wigg, is the perfect way to beat the heat with lotsa laughter

Written, directed and starring Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein), this laugh-out-loud comedy brings together a knockout ensemble cast including Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) Megan Fox and Edward Burns. We think it’s the perfect flick to cool off with this summer!

If you are like us, your Facebook feed is a strange and even balance between drunk party photos, cute baby pics and Instagram brunch shots. What this indicates, dear friends, is that life around you is changing. You are straddling two very different scenes: DINK (double income, no kids) debauchery and diaper duty. In what seems like the blink of an eye, priorities switch from “Where are we guzzling wine on Friday?” to “I want to have a babyyyy!” This tricky chapter in life is what Westfeldt explores in this romantic comedy that strikes all the right chords: raunchy exchanges, humourous banter, awkward dinner conversations and zany relationships.

Feeling the pressure of getting older, and not wanting to deal with the compromises that come with a monogamous relationship, Jason (Adam Scott) and Julie (Jennifer Westfeldt) decide to carve their own path and make a baby, but remain just friends. As if the concept of an open relationship isn’t difficult enough, why not throw an offspring into the mix!

The plot follows three couples, and their kids, as they do their best to keep life fun while also breast feed, toilet train and maintain an action-packed sex life. Isn’t this what we all want? Good luck!

Hilarious outbursts are intertwined with tough decisions, complicated feelings and one very messy weekend getaway. Poignant but also outrageously funny, this is the kind of film that will spur both laughter and heated debate.

A definite crowd pleaser for the cottage or a terrific escape from heat wave insanity (if you have AC); Friends with Kids will make you giggle and awww while also sparking spicy dinnertime conversation.
