This Saturday, March 24th, 250 Loblaws stores will unite together to try and break the world record for the most Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheels cracked simultaneously. Employees have been specially trained to crack 300 wheels of cheese on Saturday at 12 pm Toronto time, and you can be a part of it. Stop by the Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens (60 Carlton St. W.) at 11:30 to gather and witness History in the Breaking.

Here are some fun foodie facts about Parmesan that you can use to impress a fellow cheese lover at the breaking:

• Parmesan cheese is created in the Parma region of Italy
• The recipe used for crafting the cheese is 1000 years old
• The cheese is sold exclusively through a Consorzio (The Parmigiano-Reggiano Consortium)

Don’t forget, it’s PARMIGIANO-REGGIANO, not Parmesan. Seriously, keep it together, a rep from the Consorzio will be there.
