When the god of fashion speaks, we listen good. So stop what you’re doing, take a deep breath, hold it – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 – and breath out. “Last season was painterly, and this season’s sculptural.” This is what Marc Jacobs divulged to the press backstage just after his Louis Vuitton fall showing. Gone are the colourful arty prints; they have been replaced by muted earth tones. Fabrics are heavier, the vibe is more grown-up, and embellishments are minimal. However, the biggest change appears to be the defined 80’s silhouette. Sharp shoulders, sleeves in every imaginable shape and length, unusual draping, and best of all, harem pants are back in all their heavily pleated glory…again.
