8pm. The Alexandrov Red Army Choir and Ensemble @ Place des Arts – Théâtre Maisonneuve, 175 Sainte-Catherine Ouest. The Russian military ensemble Alexandrov Red Army Choir and Ensemble will perform with 125 musicians and performers, including soloists, a male choir and dancers accompanied by a full orchestra performing with a mix of traditional Russian and Western instruments. Their performances also include a selection of dance presentations. Tickets $87.90 to $97.90, available online.

8pm. The Bloody Beetroots – Death Crew 77 @ Metropolis, 59 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est. Italian electronica and dance music trio The Bloody Beetroots – Death Crew 77 play Metropolis in support of their new album “Best Of…Remixes.”

8:30pm. Colin Stetson @ Il Motore, 179 Rue Jean-Talon Ouest. Colin Stetson, the Montreal-based saxophone player and touring member of Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre and TV on the Radio has been enjoying some dazzling career highlights of late. Earlier this year, he was named as one of Time Out New York’s five artists to watch in 2011, and spent last spring touring Europe as the opener for Godspeed You Black Emperor. His latest record, “New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges” was short-listed for the 2011 Polaris Prize. He’ll battle Timbre Timber, Arcade Fire and 7 other Canadian artists for the title of Best Album, which will be announced Sept 19. Catch him live at Il Motore this Saturday. $12.

10pm Crookers + Black Tiger Sex Machine @ S.A.T., 1201, St-Laurent. Italian electrohouse DJ duo Crookers play S.A.T. to promote their latest EPs, “Dr Gonzo” and “The Gonzo Anthem.” Opening act: Black Tiger Sex Machine. Tickets $30.

7:30pm. Algerian White/A Performance by Stacey Ho @ W WTWO 206-170 Rue Jean-Talon Ouest. Opening vernissage of W WTWO, and the first performance of Stacey Ho’s Algerian White. Stacey Ho dabbles in art-making, art-curating, art-writing, and art-participating, focusing on sound, photography, performance, and printed matter. The research and documentation of written and oral narratives is an integral part of her work. Holding a BFA from NSCAD University, she recently participated in events through Montreal’s Nuit Blanche, the FADO Performance Art Centre, and Halifax’s Obey Convention, as well as exhibited at the eyelevel gallery and the MacLaren Art Centre.
