8pm. M60 @ Cinema Excentris, 3536 St-Laurent.  M60, the Montreal 60 Second Film Festival, is back for its fifth edition, presenting 85 one-minute movies on the theme: FAUX PAS. M60 has no judges, no jury, no prizes and no submission fees. It accepts filmmakers on a first-come, first-served basis, welcoming amateurs and professionals alike. Filmmakers had one month to complete their films, and will screen the results – everything from mind-blowing masterpiece to the nearly unwatchable – this weekend. These are identical screenings – every film will be presented on all three nights. $8.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 13 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 16

D. N. P. 2012 @ Eastern Bloc, 7240 Clark. Experimental art collaboration Département des Nuisances Publiques’s (D.N.P.) new show explores anonymity and identity. Other D.N.P. offerings this weekend include an artist workshop, “Trolling the Internet for Fun and Profit” (Sept 15, 2pm, bring your laptop), an artist talk (Sept 15, 3pm), and a panel discussion (Sept 16, 5pm). Gallery is open from September 14-16, 12pm-5pm. Vernissage on September 13, 6pm. All events are free.

10pm. Boys & Girls: Dirty Gold Semi-Formal @ Le Belmont, 4483 St-Laurent. The Dirty Gold Yacht Club cordially invites you to a semi-formal charity ball  in support of NDG community organization Head & Hands. With curators Wes Ghost, Nicky Raisinz and Ledisko. The function will take place on the second Thursday of every month. $5 at the door, 25% of proceeds go to Head & Hands, semi-formal attire required.

10pm. Ladyhawke @ S. A. T., 1201 St-Laurent. New Zealand synthpop/indie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ladyhawke plays S. A. T. as part of her North American tour in support of her new album, “Anxiety.”$22.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 15

9pm. Vetiver @ Il Motore, 179 Jean-Talon West. San Francisco indie folk act Vetiver play Il Motore. $12.

10pm. Nouveau Palooza @ Nouveau Palais, 281 Bernard West. Hosting what may be the best-named night in town, DJs Mitz and Seez provide the tunes while you enjoy Nouveau Palais’s “Nocturne” menu, featuring burgers, frites, and their famous perogies. Free.
