The month of January is typically slow for restaurants, what with people knee deep in resolutions and holiday bills (not to mention snow) ‘n all. The Happening Gourmand wants to get you out of those jogging pants and into some Montreal’s finest restaurants. Need an incentive? How does a 3-course, gourmet meal to the tune of $23 bucks sound?

Modelled on New York Restaurant Week, similarly designed to lure people into fancy restaurants in the dead of winter, Happening Gourmet is back for its 5th edition this year. Choose from one of seven Old Montreal restaurants – from upscale pubs Taverne Gaspar, Méchant Boeuf and Suite 701; Jazz and wine bar Modavie; straight up steaks at Vieux-Port Steak House; French bistro fare at Verses to contemporary Quebec cuisine. Select from a choice of 2 entrées, 3 choices of mains and one of 2 desserts, all for the miniscule price of $23 or $27. What a steal! You’re guaranteed to totter out of the restaurant, ready to face any January night with a sated, slightly inebriated smile on your face.

The Happening Gourmand continues every night from now until January 31st. So hurry! The jogging pants will still be waiting for you in February.
