Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum Launch Party
by Sass
Sailor Jerry? Ahoy! Rum? Oh boy! Sailor Jerry Rum? Enjoy!
Hello Ontario-ians you've got a new elixir to mix wit'cher cola. The " 92 proof " spiced navy rum named after the legendary tattoo artist, Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins, launched it's inception to an LCBO shelf near you at Tattoo Rock Parlour, care of Jesson Artmont Communications.
Tanned promo girls in bikinis and hula skirts warmly greeted invitees with drink tickets to sample the signature cocktails made with Sailor Jerry rum. Who needs to get lei'd when you can get crunk'd?
Temporary tattoos with cheeky monkeys and pinup Hawaiian hotties were handed out to start us off on getting nautical. I sipped my 'Shark Bite' and chowed down on mini burgers and which placated any reason to cuss like a sailor.
Damzels in this Dress boutique (1122 Queen St. E.) outfitted the event coordinators with shirts from the Ed Hardy designed Sailor Jerry collection and exhibited a fashion show featuring the famous hula girl graphics. Swag bags included tank tops or accessories from the line.
Now the venue is called Tattoo Rock Parlour, and by now we've perused plenty a photo of Sailor Jerry and presentation boards adorned with his well-known tattoos, what about the rock? That's where metal band Alpha Galates came in, back storying each of their songs with anecdotes of their days spent sailing (veracity questionable, but hilarious nonetheless) and dedicating toasts for the audience to drink up.
And drink up we did! Arrrr rum yum yum.
