Our Pick of the Week: AGO September First Thursday

Fall is just around the corner (where did the summer go?), which means the launch of a new season of AGO First Thursdays!

For September First Thursday: Back to Basics, happening September 6, the Art Gallery of Ontario (317 Dundas St. W.) is going back to their founding principles and bringing together the next generation of local and contemporary artists who are establishing a new image for Toronto through their art, sound and ideas. This month’s lineup includes Anishinaabe electronic artist Ziibiwan, Nigerian-born producer and songwriter LA Timpa, and a DJ set by TR/ST, the dark electro-pop project of Robert Alfons.

In the galleries, there will be artist interventions and talks from cultural visionaries like Tao-Ming Lau, founder of Blue Crane Agency and The Rude Collective. The AGO’s Night Market will also be serving up delicious food and drinks and showcasing a selection of works from Out of the Vaults.

Tickets are $13 in advance ($11 for AGO members) or $16 at the door. The bar is cash only.
