Have you heard of the the Pet-Friendly Loyalty Program? A new and super fun initiative from Purina PawsWay, it aims to bring together pet parents with local businesses! A dream come true for lovers of shopping and pooches, this rad program is totally free to use (you can sign up HERE). As an added bonus, “PawsWay Approved” business even offer members special discounts (as if we needed more incentive). There are currently over 100 local business participating, including one of our go-to boutiques in Kensington, Anice Jewellery. We recently got to chat with owner (and pet LOVER) Brittany Anice Catherine Hopkins about the importance of creating a pet friendly Toronto.
SDTC: Why did you decide to become a PawsWay Approved Pet-Friendly business?
BACH: I decided to become a PawsWay Approved Pet-Friendly business because for one, I love animals! I also love the fact that there are so many pets in this city, and would hate to deter owners from shopping around because they can’t bring in their pet. I want to create a very comfortable, friendly and accepting environment here in our boutique, so therefore pets are always welcome too. It has been a dream of mine to have a shop dog for the jewel boutique since I opened. After 2.5 years, I think we are just about ready!
SDTC: Why is providing a space that’s animal friendly important to you?
BACH: It’s important to me to have a space that is animal friendly because I love pets (did I mention I love pets?!), and I hate seeing them tied up outside crying for their owners. I feel they bring happy energy and uplift the space, and since we are such a pet friendly city for the most part that it seems to me it should just be a common occurrence having the pets in and around local shops.
SDTC: What discount/reward do you offer to members of the program?
BACH: Members of the program can get a 10% discount when they show their PawsWay Pet-Friendly Loyalty Card in store.
SDTC: What do you love most about having animal friends in your store?
BACH: When customers bring their pets into the store it adds a fun vibe to the space and gets all my customers (including us) oo-ing and awe-ing. I feel the shop becomes an even more personable environment with animal friends around, which is ultimately a goal all the time for us.
SDTC: This isn’t about pets, but we LOVE jewellery and can’t help ourselves! What’s your favourite item in the store right now?
BACH: My favorite item in the store right now (so hard to choose because I truly love all my pieces to the moon and back) are our chain tassel bracelets. I am obsessed with this look for fall – the chain tassels and crystals poking out under cozy knits and draping down the hand…love!
