Hosted by comedian Kathy Griffin, the amFAR Cinema Against Aids Gala is TIFF’s most chi-chi event. Tickets start at $1000 and tables go for $25,000. All funds raised go towards Aids research. Laura Serra gives us a peek into this exclusive event at The Carlu including the best conversation recap we’ve heard thus far.

What Laura wore to the black tie fundraiser: My vintage dress is actually a lingerie/nightie from Take me Back at Queen and Roncesvalles. I paired it with a vintage heart belt from I Miss You on Ossington, Jil Sander shoes from Holt Renfrew, a silver bag from 69 Vintage at Queen and Dovercourt and a two-tone Rolex Datejust from the Rolex store in Paris.

Laura has the best hair, how? WE NEED TO KNOW! All Kerastase all the time, courtesy of John Steinberg and Associates salon. Their Elixir product, similar to Moroccan Oil, is the key for soft and shiny hair. Front wave is natural but kept in place with a spritz of L’Oreal’s Infinium Queen hairspray.

Best part of the night: Kathy Griffin soliciting hand jobs to a photo of Justin Bieber, for the gay men in the room, as she was selling herself as one of the auction items.

Best overheard quote: “Please God, I hope someone bids more than $5,000 for a night with Kathy Griffin. I feel so sorry for her!” from a lady at the table beside me to her drunk husband.

The celebrity that had all the tables buzzing: Kim Cattrall

A conversation recap: Me: Great look, nice to meet you.
Kim: Thank you, Vivenne Westwood
Me: (in my head: ya, nice to meet you too biatch. And I didn’t ask who you were wearing)

Any swag? Maybe, but us media gals kindly bypass the swag line

If you could describe the event/party using only 3 adjectives, what would you choose? Prurient, Purple, Predictable

How did the night end? John Legend performed while the entire room tweeted at each other.

In the words of Stephanie Tanner, “How rude!”
