December 26th-30th What’s In The Box? @ The Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen St. W. What’s In The Box is back for its ninth season! As we roll into the holiday season packed with goodies to keep you celebrating all month long, you can bet What’s In The Box will keep your holiday adrenaline pumping and your cash flow in check. 5 bucks. 5 days + a whole lotta music.

WEDNESDAY

7 pm Music Bingo @ The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W. A FREE weekly event combining the love of music with the traditional bingo format. Each player receives a Music Bingo card which consists of an assortment of songs. Instead of calling out numbers, they play the music! Singing along encouraged.

7 pm Drunken Cinema: X-mas Double Vision @ The Steady, 1051 Bloor St. W. Drunken Cinema hosts a special X-mas-themed double feature of “Go” and “Silent Night Deadly Night” drinking games. There will be a raffle prize, gourmet popcorn, and a themed cocktail. Groups of at least four recommended. Games start at 7:30 pm.

8:30 pm Die Hard Quote-Along @ Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, 506 Bloor St. W. Kick off your Christmas with Bloor Cinema’s Die Hard Quote-Along, hosted by comedian Ward Anderson. Get ready for a night filled with audience participation, festive drink specials, and a hilarious pre-show, with the sound cranked and subtitles for quoting along. Yippee-ki-yay! Doors at 8:30 pm, screening at 9:30. Advance tickets available online.

THURSDAY

5 pm Perfect Strangers: Christmas Edition @ Thoroughbred, 304 Richmond St. W. DJ Caff on the 1s and 2s all night long, playing everything from bangers to ballads.  Hip-hop, R&B, reggae, new jack swing, and some Christmas carols. As a special present, Kung Pao Cauliflower is available for $5 with the donation of 1 non-perishable food item.

10 pm Strangelove @ Early Mercy, 540 King St. W. The infamous Strangelove party has arrived at King West’s newest bar/restaurant, Early Mercy. Join hosts Jonathan C and Josh Seaton as they enter the unseen, the society in the dark.

6 pm Pressure Drop Boxing Day Special @ The Embassy, 223 Augusta Ave. Pressure Drop restores the traditional Boxing Day jamboree to its original home and welcomes DJs/selectas K Zar Dubwize and Choppa Chop. Expect several hours of top-notch rocksteady, roots, rub a dub, and digital dancehall to make you wine up your waist! $5 before 10 pm, $10 after, with all proceeds being donated to Daily Bread Food Bank.

10 pm Stones Place Boxing Day Party @ Stones Place, 1255 Queen St. W. Boxing Day dance party with DJ Blush! Dance all night to the best of ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s rock ‘n’ roll, soul, and pop at one of Toronto’s most legendary dance venues in the city of Toronto. Bring those dancing shoes – you’ll be sure to leave sweaty and smiling. $5.

10 pm Footprints Boxing Day Jam @ The Rivoli, 334 Queen St. W. A post-Christmas dance party concentrating on the sounds of rare groove, a term used to describe obscure soul, funk, jazz, latin, disco, and other styles on the fringes of the mainstream back in the ’70s and ’80s. Featuring resident DJs Jason Palma and General Eclectic. $5 before 11 pm, $10 after.

10 pm Boxing Day Night @ Cold Tea, 60 Kensington Ave. WE MADE IT!  Come through Cold Tea on Boxing Day for non-stop beats via DJ Caff.  Strictly the best in dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, grime, UK garage, and feels.

10 pm In Touch @ The Ossington, 61 Ossington Ave. Get in touch with your party self. DJ Andrea Winkler spinning everything guaranteed to move your ass.

10 pm Shameless Karaoke @ The Gladstone Hotel Melody Bar, 1214 Queen St. W. Join host Wil McLean at the Gladstone for an outrageous, ridiculous, knock-your-socks-off fun night of karaoke. Watch out Celine, move over Mariah, and sit your single lady butt down Beyonce and take the stage for your five minutes of fame.

10 pm Panic: Boxing Day All-Request Retro Party @ Cabal, 782 King St. W. The ultimate retro party with DJ Lazarus spinning the kind of retro that changed your life. ’80s, ’90s, new wave, classic alternatives, ska, Brit-pop, dance, shoegaze, post-punk, and more.
