Well, we all now know that the AGO has outstanding acoustics! When the VAWK show began, an electro-house mash-up blared so loud that front row media nearly cupped their ears, grimacing in fear that something internal would blow. Thankfully, somebody got it all in check before King Tut arose from the dead.

Models cascaded down from the Galleria Italia, underneath the sculptural staircase and down into Walker Court; it’s an easy way to make a grand entrance but VAWK’s Fall-Winter 2010 collection managed to complement the dramatic architecture – not an easy feat.

Oooh – did we ever love Fong’s collection! There was an animalistic magnificence about it – which could be attested to the fur…maybe? Leather vests, power cuffs, high waisted skirts with sheer draped tops or deep v necklines and furs that lifted the shoulders high. We are lusting over the highly textual leather skirt (which I, with my limited fashion descriptors, can only describe as ruffly.) It is exactly the kind of skirt we would wear for years and could go with just about any top – dressed up or down. Absolutely sexy, classic enough but with a distinct personality. It also accentuates the ass quite nicely.

Unique to Fong’s show was the use of elderly and plumpish models. They looked stunning, oozed strength and helped us understand how the clothing would appear on women who aren’t a size 0. Thank you.
