For the first time in 2010 the doors of Strangelove are open for all those who dance like they, erm, fuck. After three weeks of MIA, the Thursday night bash is back –and we suspect- with a vengeance. $5 cover, it’s a small place so arrive early. 

Come Up To My Room @ The Gladstone Hotel 1214 Queen Street West

It’s the 7th annual alternative design event, inviting you to see what goes on inside the minds of artists and designers. The four-day event features 11 room and 14 public space installations. Ongoing until the 24th.  

Interior Design Show 2010 @ Metro Convention Centre 255 Front Street West

September means TIFF, October means Nuit Blanche, May means CONTACT. It’s January, so our Toronto-art-event-radar detects the 12th annual Interior Design Show. Out of This Spark 3rd Anniversary @ The Garrison 1197 Dundas Street West

The independent Canadian record label Out of This Spark’s 3rd anniversary with special Guests: The D’Urbervilles, Forest City Lovers, Evening Hymns and Jenny Omnichord. Sounds pretty indie. Doors 9 pm $10 at the door, $8 in advance.  

GOIN’ STEADY @ The Gladstone Hotel Ballroom 1214 Queen Street West

All those with an expertise in the loop-de-loop, the bird, the jerk, the monkey, the hammerlock, the bug, and the hand jive, this is your night. Join the Goin’ Steady Dj’s spinning the best and rarest gems from the 50’s and 60’s. The last night of its type until March 27th.  

ACTIVATOR with The SHEEN BROS @ Wrongbar 1279 Queen Street West

A sweaty dance party with tunes dedicated to soul, R n’ B, actual electro, disco, and hip hop from the past and present. Doors 10pm.

GRAND FUNK @ 751 751 Queen Street West

Chicago’s finest DJ’s from Chicago, TnT, are making the 751 the funkiest place to be in the city Or go downstairs for Bad Taste, spinning gangsta rap. $5 for both parties.   

Showcase: Modernboys Moderngirls @ The Mod Club 722 College Street

Skinny ties, skinny jeans, bangs and Brit Dj’s MRK & Bobbi Guy spinning indie electro and Brit rock.

The Rager @ Sneaky Dee’s 431 College Street

Just announced, the Rager will be every week starting Jan 23rd! It’s perfect! Dance your face off to Indie Dance, Nu Disco and Hip-Hop until last call, and then head downstairs for some of the best nachos in Toronto. It’s brilliant! Arrive early, all things Sneaky Dee’s seem to fill up before midnight. Doors 10 pm $5.  

Oh No Forest Fires @ Horseshoe Tavern 368 Queen Street West

Oh no! All good things come to an end and ONFF is no exception. It’s their last show and they will be joined by The Darcys, Arietta and Songs From A Room for what we can only expect to be a tearful rager of a good bye. Maybe minus the tears. First band on at 9:30, $7.
