Two Parrots
A Granville dive, the Two Parrots is cheesy and grungy.  They have unexpectedly delicious burgers, so-so drink specials, and a raised stage perfect for karaoke.   Watch out though, many theatre types frequent this bar.  You’ll get to watch some wicked performances, but it’s uber intimidating if you’re planning on getting up there.  My solution was to “borrow” a friend’s pitcher of beer to take on stage while I attempted Rapper’s Delight.  Still unsuccessful.

Checkers
Nestled on Davie street, Checkers is a haven for karaoke goers and old people.  It makes for a surprisingly raucous crowd.  Like, nip slip and lap dance raucous.  The list tends to skew a bit older, but there are plenty of classics to keep you going.  With karaoke most nights of the week, you can get your fix on a whim!

Hollywood North
I’ve been to this little gem of a karaoke bar a few times.  Self-described as Vancouver’s oldest traditional Japanese karaoke and hostess bar, it’s a frequent haunt of overseas businessmen looking to bust a move to their fav songs.  Their song selection is also a bit dated, but they carry enough to keep you entertained.  The service is above average and the drink menu has a good variety.  Don’t be surprised if one of the businessmen jumps up to join your group rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.
