Every once in a while, a party comes along that doesn’t make me feel quite so shamefaced about donning something extravagant and drinking like a trailer park boy. In fact, Strut for a Cure, presented by FASHION magazine not only promises an evening of illustrious music, fashion, tasty treats, and an open bar, but you will also get the ever giving gift of good karma as you support Coast to Coast Against Cancer.

Strut for a Cure will be held at the Berkeley Church, one of the city’s most original venues, on Thursday, May 27th. The event will be emceed by fashion icon Jeanne Beker (Fashion Television personality, Globe and Mail columnist, Canada’s Next Top Model judge), stylized by London based designer Todd Lynn (who has designed for Mick Jagger, Marilyn Manson, The Klaxons, PJ Harvey and Courtney Love), and serenaded by Dragonette, as well as varying DJ’s from Montreal to Saint Tropez. (I know, have a Red Bull beforehand.)

Poised to be a fashion and music playground, Strut for a Cure will treat it’s guests better than a sugar daddy on a Texas hold ‘em winning streak. For $95.00, guests will gain access to Todd Lynn’s first show in Canada featuring Coco Rocha and friends, Mill St. beer and wine and Strut wine, and a loot bag to wrap up the night. I always love leaving a party with more stuff than I came with. In a way it almost justifies all the things I’ve lost to the vast jaws of the party monster.

Coco Rocha, when she’s not busy gracing the covers of FASHION, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Numero, and V Magazine and generally being a 21 year old fashion luminary, found time to help out her cousin Erika raise funds for kids diagnosed with cancer. Strut for a Cure was born in 2009, and has since moved from Barrie to Toronto to support maximum party potential. Coco affirms, “around the world so many families and children are affected by cancer. The stories I’ve personally heard have moved me to do my best to raise both awareness and funds. Working closely with The Coast-To-Coast Against Cancer foundation, our special event – Strut For A Cure – will combine fashion and music in a spectacular way on May 27th. Not only that, but it will bring together all like minded individuals who want to help support this worthy cause. This is something very dear to my heart and I’m so excited to see you there.”

Coast-to-Coast Against Cancer is a volunteer-based organization that provides financial and other support to childhood cancer charities focused on helping children and their families live with and beyond cancer. The primary goal of the organization is to create high quality events on a national basis to raise funding for worthy childhood charities. If you thought I was lying about the guaranteed good karma, believe me when I tell you that 100% of all money raised will be directed to supporting the charity. Tickets are available online at www.strutforacure.com. My suggestion to the fashion minded out there is to get together a brigade of your most stylish home girls and home boys, dig out your shiniest gold chains, danciest dancing shoes and prepare yourselves for a tidal wave of fabulous.
