A new neighbourhood tradition in Toronto West’s Dufferin Grove is slowly growing. Known as DIMBY, or Dance In My Backyard, it’s an intimate dance experience put on by professionals, without a wallet-breaking price tag, near the Dufferin and Bloor area. The showcase this year features dancers and performers from Toronto and Montreal including Enviro duo Alicia Grant and Cara Spooner, cube 3 and Lady Janitor (community gem and DIMBY organizer Eroca Nicols) all performing pieces specially choreographed for DIMBY. Tasty organic treats will be sold at intermission by Guerilla Gourmet. Just about anyone, including fellow dancers, teens, kids and parents are welcome, and it will be taking place in the backyard of 171 Havelock Street this weekend, with 3 performances to choose from: Friday, August 27th at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2:30pm and again at 7:30pm. Door price is PWYC with a suggested donation of $10. In true community spirit, the Facebook page indicates that no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
