FRIDAY

Matt Shane’s  Locus Amoenus Vernissage @ Red Bird Gallery
Locus Amoenus, a collection of paintings by Montreal artist Matt Shane, will be on view this Friday at Red Bird Gallery. In Locus Amoenus, Shane explores an ambivalent relationship to landscape. Shane’s paintings of imaginary worlds are neither utopian nor dystopian, but these two poles create a tension within the work. Regal mountains fold into craggy caves, abandoned villages sit on brain-like turf and terraced pools flow into abyssal pits, existing as frontiers between nature and civilization.
Vernissage: Friday 7:00pm – midnight. Show runs until December 6th, 12pm-6pm daily. Red Bird Gallery – 135 Van Horne W.
