Woof! Woof! Hooray! The second annual Paws for The Cause Gala was a giant success! Truth be told, we love dogs more than ANYTHING….anything in the entire world. If we didn’t have a blog about cool things to do in the city, we would have a blog about why dogs rule. But that already exists in Toronto; have you checked out Carli Mia’s The Drool Hunter? What about Boo? You gotta know about Boo! OMG…..Booooo! But we digress. Back to the topic at hand, Paws raised $75,000 dollars this year for the Ontario Veterinary College Pet Trust Friend. Congrats! Now let’s talk about this four legged fashion.

The Paws for a Cause Gala is twofold: Fancy doggy fashion show and then a full-tilt dance party. This year, the puppies on parade sported digs from Babes and Beasts while good looking dog walkers were garbed in Philip Sparks. First we ahhhhd at the prancing pups and then we ohhhd at the fall fashion on models like FLARE’s Mosha Lundstrom Halbert, Hoxton’s Richard Lambert and MTV’s Aliya-Jasmine Sovani. Taking notes from the catwalk, it’s obvious that the trend for right now is definitely a dignified English fox hunt look (for people) and the trendy dog is clearly the astute French Bulldog. If you missed it, our dog walking friends at A Leg Up snapped a terrific gallery that accurately captured all the bow-wow-yippee-yo-yippee-yay fun.

After the fashion show, we got our hair glossed up at the Moroccan Oil booth and told the stylist, “Please give me luscious locks like my dog Rocky.” It’s true, our Pomeranian has better hair than us. And he’s always proud to show it off. Bitch.

Held at Airship 37 in The Distillery District, this was a night to celebrate our four legged BFFs. Lead sponsor Fido created a giant dog house for us to walk through and paw prints on the floor kindly led us to the bar. We stupidly didn’t enter the raffle but really should have because two lucky ducks won a freakin trip to Barbados!

It was a fundraiser that was meticulously executed by Co-Chairs Laura Serra and Paul Smith. Props to you two, and the team, for making the Paws Gala so extraordinarily successful in just two years. Doggie treats all round!

Returning home, we were greeted by our furry friends, gave them each a belly rub and promised that next year we’d try to get them in the show.

P.S. Inca, the celebrity Akita in the show, had a movie premiere this past weekend. If you love doggies like we do, check out the trailer for An Insignificant Harvey and support her budding career.
