The sun is tentatively peaking out and that means just one thing: patios. We’re all aching for summer, but you don’t have to wait to enjoy a good patio lounge. Spend the next sunny day at one of these spaces and you’ll forget it’s only April.

Dockside Restaurant on Granville Island has prime waterfront seating and a lounge-y cabana feel. A stunning view paired with tasty food and cocktails provide the perfect setting for a lazy afternoon. Don’t forget to try their microbrew too. One of my favourite pints in the city is Dockside’s Jamaican Hibiscus lager. With a pretty pink colour and summery taste, it will have you feeling tropical in no time.

The Keg in Yaletown has a phenomenal rooftop patio that’s not to be missed. The restaurant itself may not be the most original, but the patio is well-designed and perfect for mingling. So perfect, in fact, that it’s a bit of a meat market. Be sure to don your heels when you visit this one!

There’s nothing I love more than a gooey grilled cheese with tomato soup on the patio at Burgoo’s Main Street location. Paired with a cold pint of their surprisingly delicious house beer (I’m often skeptical of house brews) and fashionable people watching, you’ll be lounging until the daylight fades.

Chill Winston is known for having the best patio in Gastown. It’s hard to resist this sprawling streetside offering in the heart of Maple Tree Square. If it’s super busy don’t be afraid to take a seat in the little space around the corner; the ambience and views are still there!

A little side patio with just enough shade provides the perfect marathon drinking location. This little gem can be found at The Charlatan on Commercial. The Charlatan is not particularly known for its patio, but it’s a great place to watch the Drive residents with a spicy ceasar.

Falconetti’s boasts the only rooftop patio on Commercial Drive. It’s a stunning, lofty space that gives you a unique view of the Drive. Don’t forget to grab one of their famous, homemade sausages while you’re there!
