Have you ever heard of the Bollywood Oscars? You have now, and they’re in Toronto this weekend! Technically called the International Indian Film Academy Awards, we suspect they’re what the Hollywood Oscars would be like if they were entertaining. Hugh Jackman ain’t got nothin’ on this. If you didn’t manage to score tickets (which sold out in record time), no fear! Make your way to one of these weekend events celebrating Bollywood cinema.

Bollywood Cinema Showcards at the Royal Ontario Museum
The ROM presents a visual history of Bollywood advertising, running all summer until October 2nd. We love these lusty, colourful images! Check ’em out!

FRIDAY
Bollywood Monster Mash-Up!
An original production featuring songs from the black and white era of Indian cinema to the modern hits of Bollywood.
7-11 pm, Mississauga Celebration Square.

SATURDAY
Samsara: Feel the Flow in Toronto
This is a free outdoor event, taking place around the Rogers Centre from 2-6:30 pm on Saturday, June 25th. The four elements will be represented with performances complementing the awards ceremony, the idea of which has us around the office inspired to attempt something like this. We wish.

SUNDAY
CIBC Presents Bollywood Under The Stars Movie Night
We’re not sure how the stars fit in, since the event appears to be at 2 pm, but CIBC is hosting a screening of an IIFA-nominated comedy. On the 26th, they’ll be screening Golmaal 3 at Mississauga Celebration Square.
