It’s hard to keep track of all the worthy-of-a-check-out boutiques in Parkdale that seem to be popping up like daisies in the springtime. Still, there was something about The Future of Frances Watson that caught our attention. The name alone makes it sound like an exquisite piece of Film Noir – like Frances is our vampy protagonist detective and she’s off to save Smalltown, America from some infectious alien disease that’s really just a veiled Cold War reference to the red scare. As it is, The Future of Frances Watson is not such a film. Instead, it is a cooler than cool boutique on Queen just west of Dufferin, and it’s definitely worthy of a peruse.

Especially if you, like a certain author of a certain blog post (i.e. this one), have been scouring the city in search of an on-trend turban. My search ended with the discovery of this fine boutique. Their recently launched, eponymous clothing line features velvety dresses with bell sleeves and lace trims, matching velvet turbans, as well as puff sleeved frocks with whimsical bows. A perfect answer for a chic winter wardrobe, without breaking the bank. It’s not a big store, and apparently its hugely difficult (like, Lanvin for H&M difficult) to get your hands on one of their winter-pattern turbans, but when it comes to this Parkdale gem, good things come in small packages.
