Each week, Nadya Khoja and her roommate take the time to cook a delightful gourmet meal for themselves. But each week there were leftovers. So Nadya got an idea to invite someone new over every week for dinner. It would be like dining at a fine restaurant, but instead of payment, they would only accept beer or wine to cover their costs. This way, the extras would be eaten, booze would be flowing, and they would get to meet new people in the city.

So they posted an ad on Facebook. It read:

“DEAR LONELY PEOPLE!

My roommate and I like to make really delicious gourmet dinners once a week (I cook them, she preps and video tapes the process). We want to extend an invitation once a week to a new fellow individual who would like to enjoy a gourmet meal but can’t afford/get a reservation at some of the trendier places in Toronto. Instead, bring us some beer and wine and we will dine you fancy restaurant style in our humble abode!

**all food made by yours truly**

*let us know dietary restrictions*”

To their surprise, requests to dine started pouring in. In less than 24 hours they were booked til the end of April. Their first dinner was a smashing success. Do you want to get in on this glorious in-house pop-up resto action? Find out the whole story here. And read all about their opening night here (it included copious amounts of wine and a post-dinner YouTube party).

After seeing how fun it all looked, we’re thinking of getting on that waiting list ourselves!
