Toronto Plays Itself (can you tell we’re fans?!) continues to roll out with the gems with a special screening of Dim The Fluorescents.

In Daniel Warth’s quirky & hilarious debut, struggling actor Audrey (Claire Armstrong) and aspiring playwright Lillian (Naomi Skwarna) pour their creativity into the only paying work they can find in Toronto: role-playing demonstrations for corporate training seminars. Armstrong and Skwarna masterfully deadpan their way from Lansdowne to Bay St., brilliantly skewering Toronto’s creative and business classes as they hurtle towards a heart-wrenching climax that will stay with you, long after the lights come up. Look for shots of the Mies van der Rohe towers, the Revue Cinema in Roncy, Reposado, Ossington Ave. and more.

As a special bonus, director Daniel Warth will be joined by leading actors Naomi Skwarna and Claire Armstrong for a Q&A following the film. Dim the Fluorescents screens next Wednesday Jan. 22nd at Paradise Theatre (1006 Bloor St. W). Grab tix here.
