What’s one piece of your wardrobe you absolutely can’t live without?
Clothing-wise, my slouchy bright turquoise sweater. Accessories-wise, my three-finger knuckle ring.

What trends do you expect we’ll be seeing a lot of at LGFW?
Well, I don’t know about everyone else will be doing, but I wanted to do something fresh and fun. Jumpsuits are a big trend for me. There’s something exciting and edgy about them, and I think they make women feel powerful.

Plastics from the Mod 60s. Very Barbarella!

What’s your favorite style decade?
I love the clean lines of the 60s, and the fun colour combos.

Why is Toronto a great city for fashion?
There are so many cultures, and exciting combinations of those cultures that designers can draw from.

Why is Toronto not a great city for fashion?
It rains a lot here! Not fun for cute shoe options. I know it’s not always easy to rock cute shoes when your feet are soaked.

Tell us about your favorite street in the world to go shopping on.
I can’t say that I have one. But I do love being on Queen West. I spend a lot of time there, not only for work. There are a few boutiques that I really enjoy.

If you could go for a cocktail with your style icon, who would it be, what would you drink, and what would you (hope to) talk about?
I would do tequila shots with Patricia Field and we would tell our dirtiest stories and talk about dying our hair red.

Toronto Fashion Week is no longer taking place in Nathan Phillips Square, but on the future site of a condo development in Liberty Village. Thoughts?
I love the new space! I think it’s amazing, and so much bigger! This fashion week is going to be so amazing!

What can we expect at your show that will differentiate your design from the rest?
I have a very unique style, and a quirky approach to design. I take what I do very seriously, but my style is very much about fun. I think I have a duality to my style, which gives me a lot of range and room to play.
