This Friday night, Neon Dreams Cinema Club and Sonic Boom invite you to transport yourself back to a time when shoulder pads were all the rage and bands like Modern English and Men At Work ruled the radio.

The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. at Royal Cinema (608 College St.) with a screening of Martha Coolidge’s 1983 classic Valley Girl, starring Deborah Foreman as Valley girl Julie Richman and Nicolas Cage as Hollywood punk Randy. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased online.

After the screening, head to the Monarch Tavern (12 Clinton St.) for an 80s prom dance party featuring music from Valley Girl’s incredible soundtrack as well as all the best pop music the decade had to offer. RSVP here and feel free to post as many song requests as your heart can handle!
