Get out of the cold and join Women in Music Canada for an evening of Arab-influenced beats and a cool visual experience at the Royal Ontario Museum’s Winter Fridays.

Curated by Souk Sessions, this week’s showcase begins at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by anthropologist and Arabic folk musician Cheba Khadijah (a.k.a. Jillian Fulton), who fuses Middle Eastern and North African sounds with electronic music. She’ll be followed by Souk Sessions’ own DJ/producer/visual artist Sadziky. Expect head-banging, hip-shaking techno with Middle Eastern influences and haunting vocals.

Winter Fridays run from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at c5 Lounge on the 5th floor of the ROM (100 Queen’s Park). Tickets are $12 online and at the door and include access to current exhibits like Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story; Wildlife Photographer of the Year; and Art, Honour, and Ridicule: Asafo Flags from Southern Ghana. All ages welcome!
