Our Pick of the Week: Movies on the Common

For the second summer in a row, Toronto Outdoor Picture Show is hosting free movie screenings at the picturesque Corktown Common in the city’s east end.

TOP’s newest series, Movies on the Common, will run over three Thursdays this July and kicks off this week with Penny Marshall’s 1992 flick A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Rosie O’Donnell, and Madonna. The film is based on the true story of the 1940s All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Screenings start at sundown (9:15 p.m.) and include captioning whenever possible, while eats and treats are served from 7 p.m. onwards. This week will feature free popcorn and pizza squares from Panago Pizza (while supplies last)! BYOBlanket and chairs.
