Did you know that June 8th is National Best Friend Day? It’s TRUE! And, I’m super down with it because I don’t know where I’d be without my very special group of soul companions. They mean the world to me; so much so that I got the first initials of my bridal party tattooed on my arm after my wedding. Friends forever, literally (they don’t get a choice).

It’s nice to know that shomi takes friendship just as seriously as I do! They get the immense value that our best buds bring to our lives, and have curated some very fun movie lists for pals to watch, including the ULTIMATE BFF binge series, Playing House, which was written by and stars Maggie Caruso, played by Lennon Parham (Veep, New Girl, Lady Dynamite) and Emma Crawford, played by Jessica St. Claire (Bridesmaids, HBO’s Animals). Inspired by their real-life friendship, the funny and poignant series touches on some very real issues – infidelity, sacrifice and motherhood – with Emma ultimately giving up her successful business in China and moving back home to help Maggie raise her baby.

I recently got a chance to partake in a very special BFF experience of my own (luckily sans screaming newborns). Courtesy of shomi, my lady love Scarlet and I were treated to the most decadent sleepover at Thompson Toronto, complete with manis and pedis and three-course dinner at Colette Grande Cafe.

Back in our room, we consumed our weight in sugar (not to brag too much, but we had a CANDY BAR!!!), Snapchatted (it was my first time!!!), streamed pretty much EVERYTHING available on shomi, and capped off the night wearing our new bathrobes, sippin’ bubbly and snuggling. It was pretty much the PERFECT sleepover.

You and your BFF can score your very own shomi VIP experience! All you have to do is become a shomi member and keep your eyes peeled for the contest announcements!

Fun fact: shomi surveyed over 3,000 members to get the cold hard stats about BFF steaming habits. Most surprising? Almost one quarter (24.3%) of respondents wanted Jax Teller (Sons of Anarchy) as the TV badass in their squad, followed by Xena (Xena: Warrior Princess) (22.1%).
