“SFU’s motto is “Thinking of the World” but you have to push yourself to think even bigger than that.”

Activities: Photography and riding motorcycles

The best night out is: Steps away from SFU Harbour Centre is a part of Vancouver called Gastown that is home to some of the best bars, ambiance, and food. If you want to dance, go to Shine, if you want to drink go to The Diamond, and if you want to eat go to Six Acres. All within the same four block radius.

You have to eat at: Guu with Otokomae. 375 Water Street, Vancouver

If you need to study, head to: Belzberg Library, SFU Harbour Centre. So quiet, has some hidden study rooms on the second floor.

My favourite class was: CMNS 428 “Fashion and Seduction”, with Roman Onufrijchuk or CMNS 321 “The Cultural Production of Popular Music” with Darryl Cressman.

The best thing about my school is: You can say that you went to university on a mountain.

Make sure you avoid: Spending a lot of money on food at the cafeteria.

My favourite memory so far has been: Making all the friends through simply just recognizing them after taking a handful of the same classes – you’ll come to know that “hat guy,” the “cute indie girl,” and the “beard man.” All of whom are more than what they look like.

If I could sum up my school in one sentence, it would be: SFU’s motto is “Thinking of the World” but you have to push yourself to think even bigger than that.

Any other hints? Try to branch out – often times SFU students resent the fact that there seems not to be a community on campus. That’s where you step in and start introducing yourself. Be confident! And do the exchange program with SFU International!
