Toronto’s Linden School focuses on girl-centred learning, creating an academic environment geared towards helping young women find their voice and providing an alternative to male-dominated theories of education.

A perfect accompaniment to the school’s mission is Girl Rising, a documentary about girls’ education following young women in nine different countries and directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins. On Thursday, Oct. 3rd, Linden will host a screening of the film at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. The film pairs the girls with writers who help them to share their stories, and one of these writers, Manjushree Thapa, will attend the screening. Watch the trailer below.

The event will not only help to support Girl Rising’s International Day of the Girl initiatives, but serve as a celebration of Linden’s 20th anniversary.

Girl Rising screens at 7 pm on Thursday, Oct. 3rd at TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King St. W. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased here.
