Calling all romance readers! Immerse yourself in a four-day celebration of all things swoon-worthy at BookCrush, a free romance lit fest coming to Toronto next month. From August 21-24, romance authors and readers will gather to share their love for love stories with book signings, panels, workshops and more.

Hosted by the Toronto Public Library, BookCrush will bring the romance to two branches in the city—North York Central and the Toronto Reference Library. Whether you prefer love stories set in the wild west, an ice rink, or a far-away fantasy world, choose from four days of free events and activities themed around romance reading and writing.

A stacked lineup of 25 romance authors is set to appear at the festival, including Canadian talent, bestselling faves, and emerging voices in the genre. Alex Aster, Melissa Blair, Amy Daws, Bal Khabra, Ashley Poston, Anna Todd, Rachel Reid, and Uzma Jalaluddin are just some of the authors who will be speaking on panels and/or signing books at BookCrush.

For readers looking to take their passion beyond the page, the festival will also feature several free, hands-on workshops. Craft lovers can enjoy sessions dedicated to painting a romance novel cover or making a beaded bookmark, while those interested in the art of romance writing can hear from the experts at workshops for “Getting Started in Self-Publishing” and “Intro to Romance Writing”.

If you’re a romance enthusiast looking to find a book bestie, stop by The Friendzone! This cozy spot will be open all day long on August 23 for festival-goers to drop in and bond with other readers. Take part in friendship bracelet making, cute crafts, book trivia, and music bingo. And if you’re looking for the perfect sentimental souvenir, Romance Alley features local vendors selling bookish goodies and romance swag.

Tickets to BookCrush are free, but most panels, book signings and workshops require you to register for your spot online. Visit their website to reserve your tickets and view the full schedule of events at the festival, running from August 21-24.
