AGO 1st Thursdays are the BEST! If you didn’t go in 2012, make it a regular thing for 2013.

Buy a combo ticket now and you can check out Frida & Diego exhibition the same night before grabbing a taco and shaking it in the Galleria Italia. Yum.

This month the theme is Back to the Garden: Reimagining the Canadian Landscape. Well known street artist Dan Bergeron (who we LOVE) wants you to join him in creating a giant mural in Gallery 248 on Level 2. Along with wine, beer, and Black Market Churros, the AGO’s Walker Court will offer guests an intimate concert with musician Basia Bulat, who’s been nomiated for both a Juno and the Polaris Prize.

Earlier in the evening, catch one of the pop-up performances wherein Sook-Yin Lee, in collaboration with Adam Litovitz, will become(?) two paintings talking to each other. (We aren’t totally sure how this will work, but we know it will be delightfully bizarre.) And if you’d rather paint than dance, that’s okay! Guests are invited to get their “draw on”  with AGO artist-in-residence Life of a Craphead and Toronto artist Jennifer Rose Sciarrino as they create their own landscape-inspired still-lifes for you to draw. (Who doesn’t want to hang out and draw with someone named Craphead?!)

Oysters, art, poutine, art, dancing, live music, Frida Kahlo, Craphead….THIS SOUNDS AMAZING! And it is. Get your tickets before they sell out! Remember, Frida & Diego: Passion, Politics and Paintings only runs until Jan 20th!
