I spent much of the early 2000s parading around in purple hemp phat pants, listening to shitty skate punk, and composing some of the most horrifically earnest teenage prose to ever grace Diaryland.com. Tragedy plus time equals comedy, though, and in my case, enough time has passed to realize how chock-full of hilarity those tragically bad blog entries are.

If your teenage self ever opened up on Diaryland, Livejournal, or Angelfire, you’ll get the chance to share those awkward attempts at writerly genius at Diaryland Gold, a night of online and paper diary readings this Thursday, January 20 at OFF Interarts (5143 St. Laurent).

You’re invited to air your angst and out your teenage self by reading something of your own. If you never wrote online or went ahead and deleted your writings, you’re invited to come watch brave, boozy friends conjure up their memories from the early 2000s. You’ll also have the chance to win a raffle prize provided by Drawn & Quarterly.
