Hear Ye Exposure-Hungry Artists and Designers of Tomorrow!

Fashion Week can bring up feelings of resentment. If you spent those six days sullenly watching PYT’s flutter down the runway in frilly pieces you feel you could have made better yourself, it’s time to get FAT.

Step away from the twinkie -we’re still talking about fashion here- Toronto’s alternative arts and fashion week, lovingly abbreviated to [FAT], is seeking your submissions. So calling all those capable of producing fashion design, music, photography, video, performance and installation art, FAT will be accepting entries until December 22nd.

The fifth anniversary Alternative Fashion Week’s theme is Made With Love, and organizers want submissions to be centered around the different aspects of all matters coming from the heart: longing, lust, rage and joy.

Unlike LG Fashion Week, FAT has less to do with air kissing in stilettos and more with giving Toronto’s emerging avant-garde artists and designers a chance to showcase their work. If this involves bleeding models on all fours pulled by the safety pins piercing their nipples (true story), so be it.
