In this era of fake news, pseudo-science and conspiracy theories, what is “truth?” Do artists have a role in discerning it? And does their work have the power to shift our collective moral compass?

This spring, AGO Creative Minds will bring together celebrated writer Salman Rushdie, performance artist Andrea Fraser, filmmaker Charles Officer and JUNO-nominated musician Iskwé to debate the role of art in distinguishing right from wrong, and to consider how notions of truth are influenced. Following a live musical performance by Iskwé, the conversation will begin with a brief exploration of each artist’s views on truth, before opening up to discuss what it means to speak with authority.
