I used to think there wasn’t anything cooler than a black t-shirt and black jeans. But there is, and Montreal designer Denis Gagnon had it all. Black coats with exposed zippers and fur sleeves, paired with floaty blue skirts and pink tights. Tailored black leather jackets with swingy red skirts, a blend of bad-ass on top and lady-who-lunches on the bottom. It was like Narnia on drugs or Montreal’s Foufounes Electrique in ’98 or, I don’t know. The dark and moody collection got more playful when contrasted with bright pink fuzzy sweaters reminiscent of grade school. Gagnon paired the pink fuzz with leather-esque skirts and chunky heels, it was definitely more Anna Dello Russo than pretty in the playground. And don’t try to fight me on this one, nothing says fashion like being swathed in layers of black fur. Nothing.
