Did you know Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall are run by a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to sharing great up and coming Canadian talent with new audiences? It’s true. And their new series at The Rivoli (334 Queen St. W.), Canadian Songbook, brings that spirit to Queen West.

The monthly series runs Wednesday nights from October to May, and features new Canadian talent that the organization believes will one day fill the house at Massey or RTH. If you love discovering new music, then you’ll want to join the Canadian Songbook Society, a pass that guarantees entry to every show of the series, for just $50. Individual show tickets are $19.50.

The series premieres on Oct. 10th with Del Barber, a Winnipeg musician who was just signed to Six Shooter Records. His first album on the label, Headwaters, is fantastic, and we suggest bringing a plaid-clad friend to sip whiskey and pumpkin beer with while enjoying his live performance.

We love the idea of a standing date to discover new Canadian music. See you there!
