The Bechdel Test for film – it’s simple enough. Movies get a pass if they hit all three of these criteria: (1) it has to have at least two women in it, who (2) who talk to each other, about (3) something besides a man.

Disappointingly (but not surprisingly), many films don’t pass.

In a new series at the Revue, the Bechdel Tested is screening only those films that pass muster. Their first film, debuting April 24, is the critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated movie Mustang. Accompanying the film will be a panel discussion with Laura Perlmutter, editor and director Sonia Godding Togobo, actor Rebecca Singh, and film exec Deborah Bernstein. It will be moderated by journalist and producer Liisa Ladouceur, and followed by drinks and mingling with other cinephiles and feminists. Their mission is to advance women’s roles in various industries through public discussion, community building, and cinema. Get tickets here. See you there.
