When I think of perfect Thanksgiving films I imagine traumatic prep-school scenes where rich kids bully working class students, autumn romance in New York, quality family dysfunction flicks and themes of addiction mixed with colourful crunchy leaves. It’s an odd assembly of visuals – and probs not what I should be thinking about at all.

Whether you are renting or Netflixing this weekend (FREE TO CANADIANS RIGHT NOW) – here are our top movie picks for Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to some of you on Twitter for the suggestions!

The Squid and the Whale
Little Miss Sunshine
Planes Trains and Automobiles
When Harry met Sally
Juno
Say Anything
Hannah and her Sisters
In America
The Big Chill
Dead Poet’s Society
Good Will Hunting
Scent of a Woman
Rachel Getting Married

*Pieces of April is a film about Thanksgiving dinner starring Katie Holmes, but I think it sucks.
**Certain family dysfunction themes are terrific for Thanksgiving weekend but stuff like Happiness and Requiem for a Dream is not the type of fucked up shit I’m talking about.
